Urban Futures Youths Trained on Budget Submission in Chongwe

April 09-10, 2025

Youths under the Urban Futures project in Chongwe District are undergoing a two-day training on budget submission aimed at enhancing their participation in national planning and budgeting processes.

The training held from 9-10th April, 2025 is part of a transformative initiative by CUTS International Lusaka, Global Network Solutions and Hivos Regional Office Southern Africa. The project seeks to revolutionise urban food systems and empower young people to engage in decision-making processes affecting their communities.

Participants were equipped with practical skills in budget formulation, analysis, and expenditure tracking. A key component of the training included a session on budget tracking, during which youths developed submissions for the 2026 national budget, with a specific focus on improving the food system.

The training emphasized that the national budget is a critical tool for economic management, influencing key indicators such as economic growth, inflation, and income distribution. ‎
